The La'ie Community Association is implementing a strategic plan to help the community move forward in an organized and productive way. The Board met during the late part of 2004 and the early part of 2005 and identified the following plans for the next 5 years:
Provide a public forum for discussion. Kevin
- Consistent quarterly meetings; public relations
- Organized structure; substance to meetings -- take something away
- Increase attendance at meetings and make membership more meaningful.
Provide a healthy, clean, safe, harmonious community environment. Kanamu and Junior
- Neighborhood security
- Junk cars, bulky items, litter, general clean-up of community; community pride; community events; on-street parking and enforcement
- Working street lights
- Semi-annual events
Encourage the spiritual, educational development and cultural heritage of all who live here. Diane and Barbara Jean
- Laie pageant -- promote prophetic destiny.
- Night classes; vocational training opportunities; constant participation with HRI
- Improve relationship between BYUH, PCC, HRI, Laie Temple, and elementary school
- Improve school facilities
Effectively participate in assuring appropriate infrastructure, housing, and recreational needs. Tipa and Clint
- An LCA master vision
- Community Center, parks, playgrounds
- Bike/running path
- Improve Hukilau, existing places
Provide reasonable economic development to promote self-reliance and higher quality of life for the residents of Laie. Pane and Gerry
- Vocational development/continuing education; life education -- financial, estate, trusts, child care, business
